It was ENORMOUS! Way bigger than I'd ever expected this little town to handle. They don't even have a Wal*Mart yet they have this huge honkin' festival... of ham. This guy was grilling all these pork chops, I thought I was gonna die. I bought a cute pendant at the first stand I came to. Yeah, I'm one of those kids that tries to spend all her money right away. :D We wandered over to a petting zoo right at the time where the farmer was having Pig Races. SWEET ACTION! It was pretty great. Usually I'm spotting cruelty at petting zoos but this guy was so great with his animals and a showman too. We had fun. My camera's battery died so I don't have any pictures but I'm pretty sure Steven got pictures. After the Pig Races we meandered back to the car and headed away from Cadiz. While we were driving out of town we were trying to decide what to do next. I said, "What's close? Paducah? They have a mall don't they?"
This lead us to our next adventure! Fifty miles later we arrive in Paducah. After riding around for a bit sorta just expecting to fall into the center of town, we stopped at a gas station where the cashier gave surprisingly excellent directions to the mall. On the way we passed an awesome looking park that we committed to memory for later if it wasn't dark when we came back by.
We got to the Kentucky Oaks Mall and were instantly weirded out by how similar it was to the Governor's Square Mall in Clarksville, TN. At one point we passed the GameStop only to see two stores down ANOTHER GameStop! OMG! 2 stores down!!! That was baffling. Paducah seems a bit classier than Clarksville but ya know, not by much. It didn't take us very long to get our fill of the mall. Our next point of order was to find a place to eat. We wanted to eat somewhere different, seeing as how we were in a different town than we normally visit. We settled on TGI Fridays. I never realized how many restaurants there were in the world that like to put goofy shit on the walls to try to be kitschy.
Our server was a nice guy. He looked like Chris Daughtry. I had a chipotle steak sandwich on chibata bread with a salad. It was awesome. We ended up splitting a Brownie Obsession 3 ways nom!! At the end of the meal, Daughtry came by to leave the check. Since Steven was going to pay I slid it over to him in a manner I guess could be described as "discreetly". He laughed and said something to me about it so I said, "Fine!" and threw it down on the floor. Then Daughtry came over there and
We decided to head over to that park to see what it was all about. I'd say it was about 20 mins before the sun was going to set. This park is simply beautiful. There were ducks (or geese - I don't really know) and a lake and Duck House with a windmill and piers to fish from and gazebos and a bridge. And I decided there that I want to have my reception for my marritation (the act of marrying - word made up by my dear friend Derek Price!) to Darf there.
Also, cause I'm too lazy to scroll up and edit, before we went to the Ham Festival we stopped at a craft store called Ben Franklins and got all the fixin's for a mini Christmas tree!! :D It's gonna be adorable! :D And I got some yarn for scarfin' (making scarves, not yarn for eating)!
I think that's all. When we finally got home our dogs were so thrilled they were running laps around the house! Great day.
